It all started in Saarland…
1955
On January 1st 1955, Peter Hager and his two sons, Oswald and Hermann, founded electrotechnical company Hager oHG in the region of Saarland, where the culture after 10 years of french gouvernance was rooted in both German and French traditions.

A European vision
1959
Following the 1955 Saar Statute referendum, which paved the way for the Saar’s return to Germany in 1957, the company established a facility in Obernai, France, to stay close to the French market. Ensheim and Obernai worked hand in hand, laying the foundation for the company’s international growth.

The Hannover Fair
1959
In May 1959, Hager proudly presented its latest development at the Hannover Fair - the isolated meter plate in Bakelite as first part of the future meterboard system. The young company instantly sparked interest through it's innovation and close relationships with it's customers. This sense of humanity and ingenuity are still typical of the Hager company today.

"We acted naturally, and of course we played out the advantage we had. What helped us was the fact that as people from Saarland, we were neither real German nor really French." Hermann and Dr. Oswald Hager Company founders

The fuse carrier
1968
A major breakthrough emerged in France when, by revisiting local installation practices and remaining faithful to his guiding principle “safe and simple,” Hager developed the first modular fuse carrier. This innovation marked the first step toward modern protection devices, achieving immediate success and driving double-digit growth for many years.

The emergence of a global group
1990
The 1990s marked a turning point as the company evolved into a truly international group. New subsidiaries were established worldwide, strengthening its global network, bringing the company closer to customers in every region, and laying the foundations for its continued international growth.

Acquisition of Tehalit
1996
After establishing a strong position in distribution boards, the acquisition of Tehalit, a leader in cable management, marked the first step beyond the basement into the living space. Hager became visible and opened the way to becoming a global solution provider, from floor to ceiling.

A new generation, a growing group
2007
A new chapter begins with the arrival of the second generation of leadership. Building on its strong European identity, the Group continues to grow and expand its portfolio, introducing new solutions such as switch, sockets, doors communication system and building automation.

Expanding from electrical distribution to energy management
